SS 304 / SS 304L Bar

Stainless Steel 304 and stainless steel 304L are formed with a combination of nickel-chromium-carbon, both are used as general stainless steel with standard resistance to most corrosive environments as well as to organic and inorganic chemicals and to food and drinks. Both SS 304 and SS 304L are austenitic alloys, this implies that their corrosion resistance abilities were developed by using nonmagnetic solid solution of ferric carbide or carbon in iron.
Difference between stainless steel 304 and stainless steel 304L
The difference between these two is that the abundance of carbon in 304L is .03% greater than in 304, this makes SS 304L more suitable for welding.
Applications of SS 304 and SS 304L
• To manufactures tanks and tools
• Food industry appliances and equipment
• Architectural apparatus
• Filtration screens
• Fasteners used in corrosive marine environments
Characteristics of SS 304 & SS 304L
• Satisfactory forming properties
• Feasible for welding
• Resistant to corrosion like oxidation
• High strength in low temperatures
• Ease of fabrication
